The Purple Rock Survivor podcast: Worlds Apart episode 12

Purple Rock Survivor podcast: Worlds Apart episode 10 (Podcast episode 11, Survivor episode 12- they had one week with two episodes)

Oh no, I think some background scenery moved! Oh wait, no. That’s just Tyler, calmly squinting and nodding.

Points of interest this week:

The bland, vanilla, Wonderbread lump that is Tyler is now gone. Remember how he was a mastermind? Because we don’t.

Carolyn smiled! And she cut Tyler loose. Was that the right thing?

Dan and the Shakespearean tragedy of the advantage.

And of course, we discuss the voting pool for Survivor: Second Chance. As you may have noticed, we’ve already got some Second Chance information and content up. There will be plenty more to come.

Of course, we always welcome your comments. You can leave a comment here, tweet us @purplerockpod, or email us at purplerockpodcast on gmail. Thanks for listening!

  • As dumb as the vote split was from Tyler’s perspective (“here is a plan where I am safe by a one vote margin. I see no failure points at all.”) I thought it was brilliant of Carolyn. Nobody was going to think to hard about it because this cast’s default setting is vote-split, it meant Tyler was throwing his vote away on Mike, and, most critically, it meant Dan didn’t have to lie.

  • And as someone who’s seen all of Survivor fairly recently, I have to say that T-Bird is really delightful, my buddy who got me into the show and I are both huge fans of hers and she was one of the first names we thought of when this concept was leaked and I’m glad she’s getting the shot.

I’m worried now that she’s gonna get dicked over by recency bias, but I hope she makes it and I hope you guys remember how much fun se is. As joyless as Africa gets, she was a consistent bright spot.

    • PS: Screw you, Troyzan, screw you Troyzan fans. The only fun Troyzan moment is when he gives Kim the ‘please tell me how I was a threat you had to eliminate’ question at FTC and instead she not so subtly implies he was a pawn.

      • I could’ve ranted about Troy for 20 minutes (the actual was a bit longer, but I edited it down). The point is: Troy is no better a Survivor player than Christina, Sabrina, Chelsea, or even Alicia. In fact, he’s actively worse than most of them.

And yet he gets mentioned more than any of them when people suggest non-Kim players to bring back from One World. It angers me more than it should.

      • Oh no, I completely agree with you on the value of Troyzan’s game. That’s why I so thoroughly love Kim’s refusal to accommodate the ‘talk about how your big move was to vote me out’ question.

    • Barbara

I know a lot of old school fans who are rooting for her. I have been voting for her.

    • Rob

I’ve been voting for T-Bird, and her RHAP interview was really great. I also agree that Troy sucks. He was duped by Kim and then eliminated when she decided it was his time. Aside from his completely underwhelming game, he also seemed like a smug douchebag.

      • Turns out, I have been voting for T Bird each time. It’s hard to get to 10 without her. But since her RHAP interview, I’m now enthusiastic about it.

Also in on T-Bird. I mostly don’t agree with the ‘vote for the original players!’ mindset, as it was a different game and they’re not prepared for the new one. But she’s a firecracker, and I think wouldn’t be terrible. Compare her to someone like Keith who might get cast for ‘entertainment’ but has no idea what is going on.
