Updates from the Purple Rock Podcast

Since the season is just around the corner, we thought we should tell you what we’ll be doing on the site to cover it. Particularly since we left it a little up in the air last season.

First things first, the fantasy leagues are back and underway. If you haven’t yet, go pick a team.

Secondly, I’m pleased to announce that the podcast will return to cover an 11th season. However, it will be different. We’ll be covering the show with a rotation of hosts, rather than just Andy and John (or even Andy and John with the occasional fill-ins). So look for a season that’s an even mix of Andy, John, Emma, Matt, and maybe even Mark and Brad.

On the one hand, this should both lighten the load on everyone and help keep the takes enthusiastic and fresh. On the other, it will lead to a show that will be very different week to week, which may be a good or bad thing. We shall see. So look for the podcast to start Friday, September 28th (no preview this season, as several of us are skipping all preseason coverage).

Next, partly because he’ll be a regular host of the podcast and partly because he’s looking to change things up, Matt will no longer be live blogging the episodes. We considered finding a replacement, but instead, are going to try a season without a live blog. A post will go up before every episode for commenting, and we’ll let you all be the stars. Except for that one guy. You know who I’m talking about.

Other than that, it should be business as usual. Predictions will start after week one (because of the no preseason coverage thing). The Bonus Content post will probably start up in week two, by newly-minted staffer Brad (who earned the designation via temperament, questionable work ethic, and the all-important four-letter name). Fantasy stats go up when John gets done playing with his spreadsheets. You all will stan for nerds and underfeatured women with no discernable personality, etc.

If you’re just returning to the site after the long offseason, here’s what you’ve missed:

I think that covers it. Hopefully, you’ll receive all these changes at least as well as you handle changes to the format of Survivor.
